Pioneer Village

Pioneer Village

Allegan County Fairgrounds

The buildings in the Pioneer Village were moved to the county fairgrounds from various locations around the county and state. They represent a variety of building types and time periods, ranging from a blacksmith shop to a 1920 Cook Oil gas station. The village includes the 1870s Schmitt log cabin, the 1880s Jewett School, the 1900 Allegan Town Hall, a log church, an early store, barns, and a C&O interurban station. The Pioneer Village is a joint project of the Allegan County Historical Society and the Allegan County Fair. The buildings are open to the public during Fiberfest in August and the county fair in September.
