Davis House (1863-1868)302 Cutler
David D. Davis, a carpenter and joiner, came to Allegan in the 1830s and built many of the town's early buildings, investing his profits in real estate. A wealthy man when he retired, Davis reportedly spent $8,000 on this house, which became a village showplace. The Italianate style house and matching carriage house are both topped by cupolas, and the lot is surrounded by a hand-puddled, cast iron fence made by Alby Rossman at his local foundry.
