Griswold Memorial Auditorium

Griswold Memorial Auditorium
(1929)

401 Hubbard Street

Marilla Griswold came to Allegan with her husband Isaac Griswold, pioneer lumberman, banker, and merchant. When Mrs. Griswold died in 1918 she bequeathed $100,000 to the city to build an auditorium. Completed in 1929 and nearly unchanged since then, the Griswold Memorial Auditorium features an auditorium seating more than seven hundred people, a reception room, and two meeting rooms. The Griswold Auditorium is home to the Allegan Community Players, Michigan's oldest theater company, and serves daily as a hub of community activity.
